Data, collaboration and impact shaping European tourism
The past months have marked important milestones for D3HUB — from the successful closure of our pilot phase with 40 DMOs to high-level participation in European Tourism Day and key international events. Here’s a snapshot of our latest activities.

D3HUB at European Tourism Day

At the end of January, D3HUB participated in European Tourism Day in Brussels, where key industry leaders gathered to discuss innovation and sustainability in tourism.
Dolores Ordóñez, D3HUB Coordinator representing AnySolution, spoke during the session dedicated to AI and Data, highlighting the importance of data-driven decision-making for smarter and more sustainable destinations. The event also featured European Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas, reinforcing the EU’s commitment to digital and green transition in tourism.

Pilot Phase Closure & Partner Strategy Meeting

D3HUB officially closed its pilot phase after months of collaboration with 40 Destination Management Organisations across Europe.

During the Cross-Cluster Meeting, DMOs and experts addressed key challenges such as tourism flow management, resident–tourist balance, new tourism products for emerging destinations and climate change action.

D3HUB also strengthened collaboration with DMOs during a dedicated meeting at the Andalucía Pavilion.

Upcoming Internal Webinar in April 2026: Data, Tools & Research for Sustainable Tourism
This April, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) will host an in-depth webinar, “Data, tools and research: overview of JRC’s work to support EU sustainable tourism.” This session moves beyond the EU Tourism Dashboard to showcase the latest targeted research on relevant topics for tourism policy. We will dive into the complex dynamics of Short-Term Rentals (STRs) and housing, as well as our findings on resident perceptions of tourism—two areas vital for modern destination management. Designed with interaction in mind, the event will feature dedicated space for debate and Q&A, allowing destinations to engage directly. Further details will be shared internally.

Recapping our February Internal Webinar: The "Dos and Don’ts" of Tourism Dashboards”
Our February webinar dove into the mechanics of effective data visualisation, distinguishing between operational and market-view dashboards. We explored how a "good" dashboard must create added value for its specific audience by improving accessibility and insights. The session also highlighted the growing role of AI—from predictive forecasting to natural language querying—as a tool to transform raw data into strategy. For those building their own tools, we recommend our core Checklist: prioritise quality Data, ensure seamless Accessibility, derive actionable Insights, and ensure that backend, frontend and audience needs are perfectly aligned.
