D3HUB Newsletter | October 2026
D3HUB's achievements and final push In these final months of the project, we have been tying up loose ends, forging strategic alliances, presenting the results of our work over the years to the expert community, and looking to the future. Below is a brief summary of the activities carried out.

D3HUB Final Event
At 24 September we celebrate D3HUB Final Event in Palma. In it, we celebrate and share the results of three years’ work creating a European centre of excellence to support data management in tourist destination, with the aim of fostering more sustainable, resilient and competitive tourism through the use of data.
The event was attended by Mona Bjorklund, Director of Tourism at the European Commission’s DG MOVE; Misa Labarile, policy officer and head of the future European Sustainable Tourism Strategy at the European Commission (DG MOVE); as well as numerous experts from the sector and Balearic Islands institutions. In short, it was an opportunity to look back on everything we have achieved, to reflect on what we have learnt and, above all, to look to the future.

Launch of the Data-Driven Sustainable Tourism Forum
In July, the final D3HUB video was published. It explains how this project supports tourist destinations with practical tools for harmonised data collection, common templates, interoperability and knowledge sharing.
Specifically, the focus is on how these D3HUB templates help to ensure that local data is better structured, comparable and ready for use, thereby enabling better planning, a clearer understanding of the impacts of tourism, and more confident decision-making based on verified data.

Mallorca Manifesto
As final outcome of the project, the D3HUB partners have agreed D3HUB explored how Europe can strengthen data-driven destination management. The project confirmed that destinations need support in turning data into better decisions, while also demonstrating that Europe already possesses a rich ecosystem of expertise, networks, projects, technologies and practitioners. The challenge is therefore not simply to create more services. It is to connect knowledge, strengthen capacities, share learning and ensure continuity across projects and funding periods.
The Mallorca Manifesto captures the central lessons of D3HUB and offers a shared reference point for present and future initiatives contributing to destination data competence in Europe. It is not a binding regulation. It is a voluntary stewardship commitment: 1. Start with destination needs 2. Build competence, not only technology 3. Connect before creating 4. Share publicly funded knowledge 5. Ensure continuity through stewardship

New blog post
This latest blog post looks at how, following several years of collaboration, the D3HUB project organised its closing event, which brought together European institutions, tourist destinations, public authorities, organisations and experts at the ParcBIT Auditorium in Mallorca, both in person and online.
It also highlights D3HUB’s journey, its key results and the role of data in building a more sustainable, resilient and competitive tourism sector.

Meeting with the European Commission
In July, the project coordinator, Dolores Ordóñez, together with representatives from Turismo y Deporte de Andalucia, NECStouR and Visit Flanders held a meeting with the Cabinet of Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas. During the meeting, the importance of building on the work carried out in recent years and of continuing to strengthen a European ecosystem that helps tourist destinations place data at the heart of their decision-making was emphasised.
D3HUB has demonstrated the value of providing knowledge, tools and collaboration to help destinations design and implement truly data-driven strategies. Maintaining this momentum will be key to enabling more destinations to harness the potential of data, tackle the challenges facing the tourism sector, improve planning and generate a positive and sustainable impact.

Helping DMOs
In June, the project took part in a meeting at which our DMO, Ibiza Town Council, secured a commitment from the Consell Insular d’Eivissa to reinforce the strategic importance of data as a key asset for the future of tourism on the island. In this way, Ibiza is taking a decisive step towards a more sustainable, competitive and future-proof tourism model.
As destinations face ever-greater challenges in terms of sustainability, competitiveness and resilience, the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions is no longer optional, but essential. Supporting DMOs in developing this capability is key to enabling smarter governance and more effective destination management. And the dashboard developed for all DMOs underpins this entire process by collecting, analysing and combining different data sources, which are then visualised; this, supported by an artificial intelligence solution, facilitates the decision-making process.

Our partners have been actively engaging in major events:
- TIS - Tourism Innovation Summit - This event, held from 6–8 October, brought together the project coordinator, partners such as TURAND, and destinations such as Ibiza, one of our pioneers. During the event, both Dolores Ordóñez and Ana Moniche demonstrated why a sustainable, data-driven approach, tested through pilot schemes, is key to shaping the future of tourism and supporting European destinations.
- II Tourism Forum of Castilla-La Mancha - The D3HUB coordinator, Dolores Ordoñez, presented on September the project and her vision for the use of data and digital tools to support more sustainable, resilient and competitive tourist destinations, explaining how data can help shape the tourism of the future: one that is more regenerative, authentic and supportive of rural areas.
- Data-Driven Sustainable Tourism Forum - The D3HUB project was involved in organising this event. A range of initiatives and projects were presented at the event, all of which use tourism data as a tool to deliver resilient solutions.

On 27 September, we marked this day. The European Commission’s theme for the day, ‘Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Reshape Tourism’, perfectly reflects D3HUB’s objective: to support tourist destinations and their entire ecosystem in their data-driven ecological and digital transition. This work has involved designing and testing innovative solutions, paving the way for a data-driven transformation of tourism, establishing a self-sustaining European centre of excellence, and supporting 40 European tourist destinations in accessing digital solutions and data tailored to their needs.
At D3HUB, we have always been committed to a smarter, more sustainable, competitive and inclusive future for tourism, in which data drives better decisions and new opportunities.
